Please join us as we celebrate the 220th anniversary of the founding of the United States Military Academy and the 40th anniversary of the founding of the West Point Society of New England. We are very fortunate to have LTC David Siry, Director, Center for Oral History at West Point, as our guest speaker and be joined by members of the USMA Band.

LTC David Siry

Director, Center for Oral History at West Point

Lieutenant Colonel David R. Siry is currently an Assistant Professor of Military History in the Department of History at the United States Military Academy. He is also the Director of the Center for Oral History at West Point. Lieutenant Colonel Siry graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree from USMA in 1994 and entered the Armor Branch of the US Army. He served in operational assignments around the world to include Iraq, Kuwait, Bosnia, Haiti, Fort Campbell, Kentucky and Fort Knox, Kentucky. On his two most recent deployments, he served as an Operations Officer and Executive Officer of a Cavalry Squadron in the 3rd Brigade of the 101st Airborne Division, and as a Team Chief on a Military Transition Team working with the Iraqi Army, Air Force, and Police in Wasit Province with the 1st Cavalry Division. Lieutenant Colonel Siry earned a Masters Degree from the Pennsylvania State University in 2003. His specialty is the American Civil War and has led numerous staff rides for Cadets and Soldiers at Gettysburg, Antietam, Murfreesboro, Chickamauga and Chattanooga. Lieutenant Colonel Siry is married to the former Melissa Ellen Hess of Newark, Ohio, and they live at West Point with their four children, Shannon, Thomas, Brenna, and Katie.

WPSNE is very pleased to host an in person Founder’s Day event this year. WPSNE is dedicated to provide a safe and enjoyable evening for all guests. WPSNE requests that all guests follow the guidelines in place for our host facility on the day of our event.

As of this date, all unvaccinated guests are required to be masked until seated. While vaccinated guests are not required to be masked, if you or someone in your household has a weakened immune system, or is at increased risk for severe disease because of age or an underlying medical condition, it is recommended that you wear a mask per the Massachusetts Dept. of Public Health. We ask that all guests be respectful of all attendees.

Devens Commons Center has very well defined standards for staff food and beverage handling and facility cleaning. WPSNE will have hand sanitizer at the registration table and on the Silent Auction tables.
